WHY DO THE NATIONS RAGE?

One of the most amazing Scripture passages was brought again to mind this morning. It's been a favorite, both for its prophetic content showcasing Messiah, and also for the staggering power of the perspective it provides.

As I reread it this morning, it resonated like the ongoing travesty of unholy antics being ground out daily on the national and global scale, in all the headlines day by day. And it seems today more timely than ever before:

Psalm 2 (The Bible, NKJV*)

1 Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against YaHWH and against His Anointed, saying, 3 Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords from us! 4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh. The Lord shall hold them in derision. 5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure. 6 Yet I have set My King On My Holy Hill of Zion. 7 I will declare the decree -- YaHWH has said to Me [to Y'Shua ha'Mashiac: Jesus!]: You are My Son. Today I have begotten You. 8 Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession. 9 You shall break a them with a rod of iron. You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel. 10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings! Be instructed, you judges of the earth! 11 Serve YaHWH with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son [humbly show homage], lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

God LAUGHS at them, as if to say, "You are such a puny, little thing! You actually think You can oppose Me!"

He allows them to puff and sputter. But only for a little while. Then they must answer for their evil and arrogance and defiance.

Revelation 19 (The Bible, NKJV*)

11 Now I saw Heaven opened. And behold! A white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in Heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
